Jessie's approach to glass blends traditional technique with a contemporary eye. Classically trained in the craft, she brings a modern sensibility to every piece — vibrant color, intricate pattern work, and organic forms that feel pulled from the natural world.

Light and shadow aren't afterthoughts in her work; they're the whole point. Every panel is designed to change as the sun moves through it, so the piece is never quite finished — it's always becoming something new.

Rooted in Richmond, Jessie works primarily from her home studio, where the craft feels personal and unhurried. She also brings her work — and her teaching — out into the community, leading workshops around the city for anyone curious enough to pick up a glass cutter for the first time.

Meet Jessie Powers

Fernway Glass is built to be a place where anyone can walk in and feel like they belong.

All are welcome here, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, age, or background — this artist doesn't discriminate.

Jessie holds space that's beginner-friendly and neurodivergent-friendly, because creativity shouldn't come with a learning curve or a list of who it's "for." Whether it's your first time holding a glass cutter or your fiftieth class, you're welcome at the table.
